How liveness scoring works
Pulse adds two new signals to every call, without changing your existing risk or voice-authentication scores — liveness is additive, not a replacement.
- Liveness Score (0–100) — the confidence that the caller is a real human. 60 or above reads as live; 30–59 is indeterminate; under 30 is not live.
- Liveness Reasons — the why behind the score: live, synthetic (AI-generated), replayed (a recording), ambient (background TV/radio), modulated (electronically altered), or indeterminate.
The assessment is triggered after about two seconds of caller speech and continuously re-evaluated as more audio is collected — so a voice that starts clean but turns synthetic doesn’t slip through.
Where it runs
- In the IVR — detect non-live calls in real time, tighten IVR verification, restrict self-service, and auto-route high-risk callers to specialized agents.
- At the agent leg — raise verification requirements, or avoid servicing a non-live call altogether, before account changes happen.
- After the call — review any call where the caller wasn’t detected as human, and flag or hold risky transactions.
